2013 Aki Matsuri Information


The 16th Annual Aki Matsuri


A celebration of Japan's rich cultural heritage
presented by the Eastside Nihon Matsuri Association (ENMA)

Saturday, September 7 (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.) and
Sunday, September 8 (10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.), 2013

Japanese Rock singer & song writer, Shinji Harada
"SHINJI HARADA Peace Concert in Aki Matsuri 2013" by the Japanese rock singer and songwriter, SHINJI HARADA and band members, Wornell Jones (Bass Guitar) and MATARO (Drum / Percussion). For more details, please check here.


Tsuruga-Jo
"Castles of Japan" Presentations by Patrick Reymann and Masakatsu Matsumoto from Hikone, Japan.

Omikoshi
Mikoshi Junkousai ... The Mikoshi from Tsubaki Grand Shrine of America was on display during the two-day event. From 12 PM on September 7 (Saturday), 2013, there was a Shinto ceremony to purify the Omikoshi followed by the Omikoshi Junkou carrying festival in the campus courtyards.

Other popular Matsuri activities included: 2 full days of on-stage Performing Arts, Martial Art demonstrations by local dojo members, Puppet Shows, Tea Ceremony and Ikebana demonstrations, more than 75 exhibit booths, and Taiko, Japanese Gardening, Shakuhachi & Bonsai workshop, and “Nomi-no-ichi … a Japanese style flea market”.
